The Preemptive Round Robin Scheduling Algorithm is an important scheduling algorithm used in both process scheduling and network scheduling. Processes are executed for a predefined unit of time called a quantum. Once the CPU executes the process for the specified time slice, the process either terminates or returns to the back of the ready queue if the process has any remaining burst time left. Numerous proposals have been made to improve the static quantum time of the Round Robin Scheduling Algorithm; most research focuses on the optimization of the ready queue. In this paper, I proposed having predefined optimized quantum times for most process that can be retrieved whenever a new process enters the ready queue.

Multilevel queue scheduling algorithm. There are three queues generated. There are specific range of priority associated with every queue. User enters the number of processes along with their priority and burst time. Each process occupies the respective queue with specific priority range according to its priority. Round Robin algorithm is applied along with quantum time 4 on queue with highest priority range. Priority scheduling algorithm is applied on the queue with medium range of priority and First come first serve algorithm on the queue with lowest range of priority. Each and every queue gets a quantum time of 10 seconds. CPU will keep on shifting between queues after every 10 seconds.

Its primary aim is to minimize the average waiting time, average turnaround time and maximize the CPU utilization. This project deals with the simulation of CPU scheduling algorithms with C.
