A web application that takes a user's birthday and calculates the day of the week they were born and then depending on their gender outputs their Akan Name. Akan names are derived from Ghanaian culture. Frequently in Ghana, children are given their first name as a 'day name' which corresponds to the day in the week they were born.

Behavior Driven Development

Specification: Akan Name Generator

When date of birth and gender are inputted in a form to generate akan day names Then it is calculated to get day born which is equated to an akan name depending on the gender.

When a date is keyed in wrongly Then an alert message is sent to the user.

When gender selected is male Then Akan name generated is for male users. And the day of birth is also generated and displayed to the user.

When gender selected is female Then Akan name generated is for female users. And the day of birth is also generated and displayed to the user.

Technology Used

  • HTML - which was used to build the structure of the pages.

  • CSS - which was used to style the pages incuding the left aside navigation bar

  • JavaScript - which was used to add some functionality
