RS485 multiple devices per port

is it possible to connect multiple devices to one RS485 port?
The scan runs only until it find the first Modbus device. This works for each device individually. As soon as more than 1 device is connected to one RS485 port, only the device with the lowest ID is recognized.
Is there a way to let the scanner move on through all IDs which are defined within the units section?
using the right topology and a termination resistor solved the issue
