Pledge of Conduct
My pledge
In the interest of fostering an open and welcoming environment, I pledge to making interaction with me in any project or community a harassment-free experience for everyone regardless of (but not limited to) age, body size, disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.
I will:
- Use welcoming and inclusive language
- Be respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
- Gracefully accept constructive criticism
- Show empathy towards others
I will not:
- Use slurs, including (but not limited to) sexual and racial slurs
- Use sexualized language or imagery
- Make unwelcome sexual advances or give unwelcome sexual attention
- Troll, make insulting/derogatory comments, or make personal attacks
- Harass¹ anybody, in public or in private
- Publish others' private information without explicit permission
- Conduct myself in any way which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting
I reserve the right to argue, in good faith, any topic, including politics and religion when this is not off-topic for the project, project space, or medium.²
I reserve the right to update or change this pledge to clarify my position.
Footnotes
1: Simply commenting on somebody's public statement (such as social media posts) will never by itself constitute harassment; there needs to be an element of repetition, harshness, rudeness, or undue disrespect to count as harassment.
2: As an example, discussing religious topics would probably be off-topic for a technical mailing list, although there might in rare cases also be exceptions.
Scope
This pledge of conduct applies both within project spaces and in public spaces.
Enforcement
Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior by me may be reported by contacting me at vegard.nossum@gmail.com. All complaints will be reviewed and investigated and will result in a response that is deemed necessary and appropriate to the circumstances. I am obligated to maintain confidentiality with regard to the reporter of an incident.
