a RasperryPi driven orrery/planetarium
Astronomical simulations for the Second Life virtual world. Includes a scale model simulation of the solar system, including orbits of asteroids and comets from their orbital elements, simulation of stars orbiting the central black hole in the Milky Way, and a general n-body gravitational system simulator.
Solar System Live is an interactive orrery for the Web that lets you view the solar system in a variety of ways for any date between 4713 B.C. and A.D. 8000. An ephemeris can be displayed for any location on Earth and, given orbital elements in the form published in the IAU Circulars and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the orbit and position of asteroids and comets can be plotted.
This is a two-dimensional simulation of our solar system to scale, written in Javascript while using the Keplerian Elements for calculating the positions.
Project for NASA Hackathon. (Space Apps Challenge 2023)
Home Planet program from Fourmilab by John Walker (mirrored)
A full (PERN) stack planetary system visualizer web app created by the "AstroNerds", a team of 4 people in their CS minor capstone class. The data was obtained from the NASA Exoplanet Archive and stored in a PostgreSQL database served through an Express server with more than 3000 items. Front end built using JavaScript, React.js, and Node.js. The project is hosted in an AWS EC2 instance on a Ubuntu server. Users are able to search up, visualize, and learn about distant stars and orbiting planets.
Plan-it-time is a clock implemented on a raspberry pi, that shows the current time and position of the planets.
