単語を覚える際には品詞も意識した方がよい。

| 形容詞 (adjective) | 名詞を修飾するか、補語になる |

| 接続詞 (conjunction) | 語と語、句と句、節と節をつなぐ |
- 他動詞は目的語が必須
- 基本的に、自分だけで完結しないものが他動詞

- 受動態にできる動詞は他動詞で、自動詞は受動態にならない。
- 受動態のあとは目的語はこない

- 句には S+V がない。名詞句や副詞句などがある。
- when / while / if / unless / though などの接続詞のあとの「主語 + be 動詞」は、主節の主語と同一の場合は、省略可能。
