A KDE
configuration helper tool.
Inspired from the kdeSetup.sh
script of the
linuxTweaks project.
Thank you!
The main difference between this application and the kdeSetup.sh
script is that the KDE
configuration options are stored separately
in a YAML
file.
Another important difference is a feature to read and collect the
existing configurations before applying the new configurations and
create a so called reset
YAML
file. This reset file can be used to
restore the old configurations.
A planned feature is to implement the export command. This command
will generate a custom shell script like the kdeSetup.sh
from the
linuxTweaks
project.
The down side of this approach is a much heavier dependency chain, in
this particular case: Perl and a number of required modules (Moose
,
MooseX::App
, etc.).
Two items in the kde-font.yml
example configuration file:
# The setting section:
---
settings:
-
file: kdeglobals
group: General
key: desktopFont
value: 'Sans Serif,11,-1,5,50,0,0,0,0,0'
-
file: kdeglobals
group: General
key: fixed
value: 'Monospace,11,-1,5,50,0,0,0,0,0'
Requirements:
KDE4:
- kwriteconfig
- kreadconfig
Perl and the required modules:
- Moose
- MooseX::App
- (...)
Run the KDE configure commands but use --dryrun
, first, to see how
the commands will look like and how will be the values changed:
$ kderc run --in examples/kde-fonts.yml --dryrun
Change all the settings in the KDE fonts configuration section:
$ kderc run --in examples/kde-fonts.yml
The previous command automaticaly created a new YAML
file:
examples/kde-fonts-reset-2014-11-11T17:11:58.yml
with the old
configuration values. We can now restore the old settings, if we
want:
$ kderc run --in examples/kde-fonts-reset-2014-11-11T17:11:58.yml
There is also a --out
option for the YAML configuration reset file:
$ kderc run --in examples/kde-fonts.yml --out reset.yml
