This directory contains my personal dotfiles.
Ensure you have the following installed on your system
brew install git
<!-- or -->
sudo apt-get install git
GNU Stow handles the symlinking of my dotfiles.
brew install stow
<!-- or -->
sudo apt-get install stow
First, checkout the dotfiles repo in your $HOME directory using git
git clone https://github.com/skmpf/dotfiles.git ~/.dotfiles
cd .dotfiles
Update name and email in .gitconfig
. You can also change the default editor if you don't like vim
(use code --wait
for VSCode).
Optional: update the directories you want to override in
.gitconfig
and update name and email in.gitconfig_pro
.
Finally use GNU Stow to create symlinks
stow .
