Pittar
Pittar is an archiving tool (which creates a .pitt file). It is a command line utility used to compress a list of files/directories. Additionally files/directories may be compressed then appended to an existing compressed file. One may completely or selectively decompress files, and also print the hierarchy and metadata of the compressed files. All permissions are preserved.
