Keyboard shortcuts to write Greek symbols

These AutoHotkey scripts create keyboard shortcuts ("hotstrings") to write Greek letters and symbols (α, β, etc.). The hotstrings are not application-specific and they will work in any application!

How to Use

Using the script is pretty easy, after running the script type any of the hotstring commands and they will immediately be replaced by the respective Greek letters. For example, when you type \alpha it will be auto-replaced by α.

Hit the Esc key at any time to terminate the script and stop your computer auto-replacing. For more details see the AutoHotkey documentation.

Installation

1. Download and install Autohotkey.
2. Download one of the scripts.
   • for LaTeX type hotstrings (e.g. \alpha): maptogreek-latex.ahk
   • for single letter hotstrings (e.g. \a): maptogreek-short.ahk
3. Double-click the script file to run it.
4. In any application, type any one of the hotstings and they should immediately be converted to the Greek letters.
