BrainDelinter is a simple and intuitive tool based on extended mind theory. it was inspired by a practice recommended by my own adhd provider, intended to help you:
- move all the 'lint' —— tasks you've avoided, thought-spirals that keep you up at night, etc. —— out of your head and into your device (that is, your extended mind)
- work through list items daily via an approachable and maintainable system
- prevent procrastination, avoidance, and burnout
- a global + infinite list that includes any items added throughout the day, as well as any items rolled over from yesterday
- notifications that prompt you when it's time to start doing things on the list and when you've done enough for the day
notes:
- the list is called a 'lint list' so as not to bring up any stressful/negative feelings about to-do lists
- list items can be added at any point, as soon as they pop into your mind
- dev note: I'm currently working on ways to make adding list items as easy and painless as possible through methods/mechanisms including app intents, widgets, shortcuts, siri prompts, etc.
- the 'start' alarm goes off at the same time each day, and the 'end' alarm goes off after a set amount of time (20 minutes is recommended)
- start time and session length are both customizable in the app
- any items not finished when the second alarm goes off remain on the list, rolling over to tomorrow
- calendar that keeps track of streaks, productive days, 'you showed up anyway' days, etc
- notification settings so you can choose your preferred method, optional sound, etc etc
- easy + expansive support for sharing your accomplishments —— by email, text, on social media, with your provider, etc
- would be nice to send additional notifications (?) to remind and/or congratulate
