A chrome extension to be able to extract plain text from youtube transcriptions - work in progress

Get youtube text

Installation

• click the green button, clone or download
  • click download zip
  • once downloaded, unzip the file locally
• in chrome visit chrome://extensions/
• toggle “Developer mode” in the top right to be on
• click “Load unpacked extension…”
• select the extension’s directory (the one you downloaded and unziped)
• You should now see your extension in the list

Usage

• go to a youtube video
  • click on ... menu
  • click Open Transcript
  • then click on the extension icon, top right in chrome
  • the extension will ask you if you want to copy to transcript to your clipboard
  • If this works you can then paste the transcript anywhere
  • Advanced - If it doesn't you can try opening the developer console cmd ⌘+ option ⌥ + i and you might see it there in the console as well
