Common Lisp Utility Directory

Introduction

There are many different packages in Common Lisp that provide general utility functions. The general utility landscape is rather fragmented with libraries such as Alexandria, cl-utilities, etc. An interesting approach to solve this problem is Quickutil that allows you to load a specific utility in your image, independent of what exact package it originates from. Although it would be preferable to add all the utilities to Quickutil, this system does not seem to be completely up-to-date (mid 2018). Another problem is that for this system to work well, all utility libraries maintainers should add or allow to add their utilities to this system, which is problematic due to licenses.

This utility directory serves as a way to find and add commonly used utilities organized by category. It simply lists commonly used utilities, records which library contains the functionality and if no library has it, it adds the functionality.

Copyright

This library has the Apache 2.0 license for now, but since it is preferable to add them to Quickutil, they may be released to the public domain later as Quickutil requires this.
