Biodiversity is disappearing at a rate faster than it is being generated. We need to act fast using scalable solutions that can move faster than the exponential processes destroying our biodiverse habitats. Collective action is required to reach sufficient speed and scale. Centralization can’t solve this problem – solutions must be network driven and operate within local communities.
Protect the biodiversity on earth by conserving ½ the earth.
The solution is a network of communities in service of a goal, or as we call it a LanDAO. A decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) can provide a system for distributed action and decision making without the constraints of a central governing bureaucracy. It can do so by generating and deploying resources at a local level powered by the collective resources of a large scale organization. Thus unlocking both the power of scale and the power of local communities. The company’s heuristics will be goal driven and communities will operate autonomously in the service of conserving and generating biodiverse local habitats. To fund such an operation, a sustainable investment and operational model is required. Funding will be created via the issuance of $land tokens which will serve to both fund the organization as well as bestow the token holder and its local chapter, co-operative ownership and voting rights in the DAO.
The lanDAO will operate similary to a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) in that partnership and profit sharing rights are set up-front explicitly.
A DAO is not driven by a central planning office, it is driven via democratic processes that define heuristics and apply them in service of a goal. In other words. Heuristics are local actions that create a global emergent outcome. In this case, the goal is to protect biodiversity by conserving ½ the earth.
- Funding shall be collected and used for land acquisition and land management via: Token Sales, Sustainable Tourism Revenue, Regenerative Agriculture Revenue
- Acquired land shall become a park governed by self-similar rules
- Local organizations may be formed and governed self-similarly
- Token voting shall be used to set heuristics in service of the goal
