About Bookbot

Bookbot is a Python CLI tool for parsing text from a file. It accepts a user input for a directory, and then proceeds to parse the text file, breaking down the amount of words, and the occurences of each letter found in the file. If the directory provided by the user is invalid, the user will be prompted to try again, up to a maximum of of three tries. If a valid path is not provided, the program will exit, alerting the user that the program is exiting. If a valid file type is not provided ('txt'), the program will not execute the file.

How it Works

  • Clone the repository into your local
  • Create a directory within the root folder of bookbot.
  • Place a .txt file in your newly created directory and initiate the program
  • Supply the program with your directory when prompted. If in the root directory (bookbot), you do not need to enter a slash, this will cause an error. Simply enter the name of your directory, e.g. 'books'
  • Sit back and let Bookbot work its magic as it provides a report for you!
