setting up a new macbook

• encrypted disk

iTerm

• Preferences -> General -> Preferences -> Load preferences from this repo
• Load the profile:
  • Preferences -> Profiles -> Other Actions... -> Import JSON profile
  • Remove old default profile and set new one as default.
  • Will yield the option + cursor word movement, as well as unlimited scrollback.

zsh

• install oh-my-zsh
• link config to this repo: rm ~/.zshrc && ln -s ~/projects/dotfiles/.zshrc ~/.zshrc
• adjust .zshrc, install brew etc.

VScode

• link user config to this repo: rm ~/Library/Application\ Support/Code/User/settings.json && ln -s ~/projects/dotfiles/settings.json ~/Library/Application\ Support/Code/User/settings.json

Apple Mail

• View -> Organise by Conversation
• View -> Sort by -> Date and newest message on top
• Preferences -> Viewing -> Show most recent message at the top
• Preferences -> Privacy -> Protect Mail Activity (route image loading through apple)

SSH

• Activate UseKeychain for ssh key (to not always enter passphrase)
• Provides shortcuts for flatfox app servers
