docs-upload-site

This is a basic file upload and management web app that uses the filesystem as its database (keeping it simple!)

Getting started

Start for development

Please first ensure that you have GOPATH configured correctly:

$ mkdir -p $HOME/go/src/github.com/notatestuser
$ export GOPATH=$HOME/go/src

Then clone this repo to ~/go/src/github.com/notatestuser/docs-upload-site.

You will need to install all dependencies to run or build the app:

$ cd ~/go/src/github.com/notatestuser/docs-upload-site
$ yarn
$ dep ensure

Then use make dev to run the dev server in one tab:

$ make dev

And run the backend server in another tab:

$ make run_server

The app will be available at http://localhost:3000.

Start in production

$ make build_app
$ APP_ENV=production go run main.go
$ open http://localhost:8081

Docker in production

$ make
$ make run_docker
$ open http://localhost:8081

Right now all uploads will be kept inside the Docker container and may be lost on restart. In the future these would be moved to an external volume to make for more of an ideal setup.

Security

One basic constraint is that uploaded files must be no larger than 10MB. There is no restriction on file types allowed for now.
