Utility to conveniently fetch and deploy various branches
of git repos to a puppet environment
1. installation
clone this repo somewhere
run ./configure
edit settins
optionally run edit_crontab
2. settings
Settings contains a bunch of variables.
ENV_TOP: Where you want your $ORKDIR to live
NFSCMD: If set, used to mount $ENV_TOP. Come to think
of it, it doesnt have to be NFS even.
USER: username to use with gerrit
SSHKEY: Above users gerrit key
GERRIT: Example: ssh://${USER}@gerrit.ericsson.se:29418/puppet
Should point to most of gerrit path to your modules. i
Don't put / in repo nemas, that will spawn scorpions in your keyboard
REPOS: List of your repos
BRANCHES: List of what branch to checkout. Must be one branch per repo
ORKDIR: Name of wanted environment.
Example: ${TOP_DIR}/modules_staging.
It should probably end up on puppetmaster(s)
as /etc/puppet/environments/modules_staging or whatever you named last
part. Yes, I misspelled workdir, but was too lazy to correct it.
CHECK_INTERVAL: Interval in minutes (1..59) you want cronjob to run the update
KICKPUPPET: Command to run to refresh puppetservers
Example: ${ENV_TOP}/modules-gic/update-puppet-modules.sh
HERE: Added by configure and should point to dir where this file is
If you don't have it in settings, you haven't run configure.
If it points to wrong path, file a ticket.
If you move this dir from where originally configured, you will
get scorpions in your keyboard.
3. edit_crontab
Run the generated edit_crontab if you want a cronjob that runs
every CHECK_INTERVAL minute. Any parameters provided will be passed
on to the cronjob
4. update-staging
Main script to update repos. Can be run from cron as described above, or
on the command line. Parameters are:
skip_<repo> - will skip checking that particular repo
skip_update - Will not run the KICKPUPPET command
