I wanted a tool to inspect and report on the ADIF files that I get from my FT-8 ham radio software (WSJT-X). That file is automatically generated and a bit bare bones so I wanted to add the DXCC country and the DXCC codes at minimum so I could sort on them.

To get the DXCC country (entity) data I download a file from the ARRL that is intended to be man-readable and unscramble that. I don't actually think it is very man readable as I can't deduce any certain rules that it doesn't break but I think I have a handle on what is intended - well aside from the Russian entries that I substitute out with another string that I believe covers the actual callsigns used. It decodes all the countries in my current log other than three that are, as yet, unofficial and one that is just plain weird.

The ListView source is based on an old Microsoft example with my tweaks and the MDI from programs I wrote decades ago. The Unit tests are only for the bits that were better tested offline.

The filename is saved as a default as it rarely changes so use the File menu to change it if needed.

This is 'take one' with ADI file read, DXCC addition, display and column sorting. I wanted to archive the country code source safely as it took a while to derive and test. All the log analysis stuff will come later and probably not be useful to anybody else.

I added code to consult my online LoTW and eQSL logs so I can mark the 'confirmed' entries as these are the services I use. When the system starts it will ask for usernames and passwords for these services. If you leave the usernames blank it will not use them. There is a menu item to set them later.

I also updated things to use the MDI (MultiDocument Interface) so I could handle two or more files at once.

To get a mileage field I wrote Maidenhead Square to latitude/longitude routines and a spherical trig distance function to add distance. What I want next is a smart merge and compare.

The files it downloads and the configuration information are saved in the C:\Users\your_name\AppData\Roaming\NigSoft\LogView\ folder so it gets backed up.

Please don't tell me that you wouldn't have done it this way as me laughing at you may cause offence. I've been programming since the early 70s and I know I'm not cutting edge any more and I quite like it that way. However cut and stick anything that might be useful to you. I had hoped to find some example code for an ADI file reader on line but couldn't find one I liked so here is my offering. I will keep updating it while I'm tweaking it and when the systems change or if I want more information.
