Is it necessary to fill out tables?

The .cpp source files contain many lines opening "Added by us for filling out tables" (which I've edited to "Added by Sand et al. (2014) for filling out tables"). Now that we don't print to stdout, are these now used for anything or can we improve speed by removing these lines?
