This is an extension for Google Chrome/Chromium to allow Tubi users to create a hangout and synchronize their playback. It's currently a POC that demonstrates the viability of the feature, but may contain various bugs or limitations.
You'll need to manually install the extension.
- Clone the repository
- Open Chrome, navigate to
chrome://extensions - Ensure Developer mode is enabled (top-right of page)
- Select "Load unpacked," and select the cloned repository
- Navigate to https://tubitv.com and find a movie to watch
- There should be a "Tubi Hangout" banner at the bottom of the screen. On the right side of this banner, select "Create Hangout."
- Start playing the movie
- Open the URL from the bottom left of the screen on another browser/computer with the extension installed. Playback should be synced to a reasonable degree, as well as play/pause, seek. Currently, only the browser that initiated the hangout can control video playback.

This extension uses a publically hosted instance of the Hangout Server to route data between clients, so familiarity with that project will be required if making extensive changes to this extension, adding features, etc.
