Addition to Step 1: Hide Desktop Icons from Appearing

Just a cosmetic thing, but maybe worth adding:
Launch Terminal, found within /Applications/Utilities, and type the following defaults command string:
defaults write com.apple.finder CreateDesktop -bool false
