Computing 4 Physics: Introduction to Scientific Computing

Jennifer Klay

California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo

June 20, 2014

This repository contains all the curriculum and materials for a basic course in scientific computing for physicists. The materials were initially developed over the span of three years (2012-2014) by Jennifer Klay in collaboration with Brian Granger at Cal Poly for the course PHYS 202: Physics on the Computer, a 4-unit introductory course taken by sophomore undergraduate physics majors after completion of their introductory physics and math courses.

Structure

  • See the course syllabus and schedule for an overview.
  • All lessons are available in the Content directory
  • Course materials for instructors are available in the Resources directory.

Note: You can view the full repository of notebooks online by using this link. This work was also presented at the SciPy2014 conference in Austin, TX. The conference proceeding provides a written summary of the course experience. You can also view the video of my talk here.
