New Documentary Collection of the Independence of Peru (PDF Version)
In the 1970s, on the occasion of the Sesquicentennial of Independence, the monumental Documentary Collection of the Independence of Peru appeared, which, in the pen of the most important scholars, is still the most important research about our emancipatory process. With a view to the Bicentennial, the Congress of the Republic has proposed to reprint the collection in digital format for the benefit of all Peruvians, an effort that will include the virtual publication of volumes that remained unpublished.
We started this project, scheduled to be extended until the year 2021, with the publication of the series The rebellion of Túpac Amaru II. This first installment consists of seven volumes, in contrast to the four volumes of the original edition, as they have added documents that came to light in the 1980s under the framework of the so-called Bicentennial Collection of the Tupac Amaru rebellion. Avoiding repetitions, the new digital edition contains unpublished information referred to the correspondence of the realistic side and to the judicial processes to which the rebels, our first heroes, were subjected.
