Adiminstrative Regions: Prior to 1991, there were 14 administrative regions/Province(Kifle Hagar) which were divided into 102 Awrajas. The Awrajas were divided in 577 Woredas. The present government has changed the provinces to 9 ethnically-based administrative regions (kilil) and three chartered cities. Each Kilil is divided into Zones and the Zones are divided in Woredas.
