INFO Field

Hello,
Is the info field when merging multiple VCFs made totally from scratch or are some values inherited from one of the VCFs? I have a field on the INFO of the VCFs I'm trying to merge where I have the inserted sequence and would like to keep this on the merged VCF.
Is there a way to do that?
