HEX2UIColor OS X Service lets you convert #RRGGBB (HEX) colour strings to UIColor declarations, in two clicks, from your contextual menu.
This is useful for web developers (who are used to the #RRGGBB web colour format) working on Cocoa [Touch] applications, which requre colours to be defined in a specific UIColor format.
Example:
#FEB157 → [UIColor colorWithRed:0.996 green:0.694 blue:0.341 alpha:1]
Download this repo’s ZIP and grab the .workflow file. Drag and drop it into your ~/Libraries/Services/ directory. Done.
Grab the latest code from this repo (hex2uicolor.sh). Launch Automator and choose to create a new Service.
Make sure to tick Output replaces selected text.
Search for the Run Shell Script action in the sidebar.
Drag and drop the action into the main area. Make sure to select the /bin/bash shell and change Pass input to as arguments.
Replace the code with contents of hex2uicolor.sh.
Save the workflow and give it a name of your liking. Done.
Once the service is properly installed, the contextual menu of any selected text will contain the HEX to UIColor option. Click it. Given that the text is a proper HEX colour value (hex2uicolor currently supports #RRGGBB and RRGGBB formats only), it will get replaced with a nice and clean UIColor declaration.
