If professors are going to be lazy about issuing assignments and only checking the word count I don't see why students are obligated to put forward considerably more effort..
My industrial engineering seminar only checked the wordcount of my reports each week. This program takes the top 1000 most commonly used words and generates reasonable length sentences using them. It does this until it reaches the wordcount of the report.
