Matt I.B. Oddo's repositories
IcosphereTileEarth
Spinoff of SphericalEarth, this repo deals with projecting icospheres into geodetic space, and the challenging triangles that exist crossing the antipode of the Prime Meridian.
LatticeGrid
An interpolation method for XYZ data that "smoothes" 3D point clouds into a lattice of equidistant points. A regular lattice greatly simplifies back-of-the-envelope calculations and visualizations that are otherwise very difficult to perform on noisy spatial datasets.
Trophic_Networks
Using graph theory to explore the architecture of ecosystem biomass flow
BMatrix_Explainer
A collection of Python scripts to explore and visualize the B-Matrix of a graph network. Part of CPSC 547 (Information Visualization) 2022 at UBC.
ControlPointReticle
Part of a PhD project funded by a Mitacs fellowship at the Global Ocean Modelling Lab (GOM) of The University of British Columbia (UBC), in partnership with Tsleil-Waututh Nation (TWN) and engineering consultants Kerr Wood Leidal Associates (KWL), and part of TWN’s Cumulative Effects Monitoring Initiative (CEMI). Many thanks for the support and guidance of my supervisory committee; professor Villy Christensen (UBC, GOM), Spencer Taft (TWN, CEMI project lead), Patrick Lilley (KWL, CEMI), and colleagues Meaghan Efford (GOM, CEMI) and Greig Oldford (GOM). Special thanks to Jesse Morin (UBC, CEMI), Michelle George (TWN), and Michael George (TWN) for sharing their knowledge of Tsleil-Waut’s historical changes, Evan Thornberry (UBC) for sharing geospatial archives, and Bruce Macdonald, author of ‘Vancouver: A Visual History’ for his support and for trailblazing the historical landscape reconstruction of the region. This project unfolded through remote work between April 2020 and April 2021 at Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Sto:lo unceded territories of Canada, and Mapuche, Kaweskar, and Selk'nam lands of Chile.
dirediredock.github.io
Fancy landing website for dirediredock's GitHub repositories.
prettymaps
A small set of Python functions to draw pretty maps from OpenStreetMap data. Based on osmnx, matplotlib and shapely libraries.
PythonToys
Eclectic collection of Pythonic applets and toys.
SphericalEarth
A collection of Matlab scripts that converts 2D planetary array data into a to-scale 3D sphere, based on Earth radius of 6371 kilometers.
SubmarineCables
Parsing and visualizing @telegeography's submarine cable JSON dataset: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/telegeography/www.submarinecablemap.com/master/web/public/api/v3/cable/cable-geo.json
PythonWorkshop
Python essentials for absolute beginners, in 8 sessions. Designed for my brother's highschool cohort, my goal for this workshop is to teach computational thinking to a young generation now venturing into an increasingly digital post-pandemic world.
RGB_ColorSpline_Cube
What if Bézier surfaces define colormaps within the RGB cube?
2021-436V-examples
D3 templates for reference
AdventOfCode
Two stars a day keeps Robot Santa away.
airspace-jekyll
A port of the Airspace theme by ThemeFisher to Jekyll.
edgebundle
R package implementing edge bundling algorithms
GameOfLife_Methuselahs
In Conway's Game of Life there are structures called "methuselahs", that like their longest-lived Book of Genesis namesake, are remarkably complex long-lived patters that arise from very simple initial conditions.
infobox_interlinker
A Wikipedia tool to improve the Semantic Web. Project for 2022 CPSC547 (Information Visualization) at UBC.
learn-regex
Learn regex the easy way
Oceanic_Regions
Based on the oceanic provinces described by Alan Longhurst.
portraits
Portraits of Complex Networks
QuantQual_TrackGPS
Citizen science tool based on an automatic quantitative thread of GPS-points which is highlighted by manual qualitative survey observations.
React.js_HelloWorld
My first dive into the React.js library. This repo holds a working directory that loads and renders a browser output for the TypeScript app modules stored in the src/components directory.
SolarSystem
To-scale model in kilometers of the Solar System.
STAT454_Participation
Repo for in-class stuff
wikigraph_infovis
This project is about a data-driven infographic of programming languages, a network graph visualization of how languages influence each other and develop over time. Project for 2022 CPSC547 (Information Visualization) at UBC.
