Netindic is an indicator tool for diagnosing network connectivity problem. The issues netindic can detect includes:
- missing IPv4 address or IPv6 address (global)
- missing or unreachable gateway
- unreachable or malfunctioning DNS
- captive portal
- malfunctioning internet (currently make a test to http://httpbin.org)
Basically, netindic tests all components every 20 seconds.
At any time, one can ask for a network diagnosis. The following window will appear:
If a captive portal is detected, an authentication window is opened.
Before using netindic, some librairies must be installed.

Just run ./netindic.rb
Run ./install.sh
to enable automatic startup on session start.
Configuration is done by creating the directory .config/netindic
. The file config.yaml
resides in this directory. It contains:
