MacOS Automator applications for recording audio.
Requirements: Sox must be installed with MP3 support. I recommend the following procedure for installing SOX:
-
Install Homebrew from http://brew.sh/
-
Install lame via homebrew: brew install lame
-
Install Sox via homebrew: brew install sox
The default save location for the recordings is ~/Desktop/Recordings. They are named with the date and time when the recording was started.
This application will ask how long you would like to record your event. Enter the time and click OK for recording to begin.
This application is designed to be used in conjunction with iCal.
-
Create an event with a start and end time that you would like to be recorded
-
Set the reminder to open a file
-
Select the RecordEvent application
-
Set the time of the reminder to be at the time of the event
This application will record for 90 minutes.
##RecordEvents application When launched this application will see if there is a calendar event that is starting this minute. Any events found in the "Recordings" calendar will be recorded. It is similar to the RecordEvent application except that it is designed to be used in conjunction with a LaunchAgent that will run it every minute.
To setup this application:
-
Create a folder on your desktop named Recordings
-
Copy the RecordEvents application to the Recordings folder
-
Open your ~/Library/LaunchAgents folder (In Finder select Go, Library, then open LaunchAgents)
-
Copy the com.chucksteel.recordevents.plist file to the LaunchAgents folder
-
Open Terminal (found in Utilities) and run the following command:
launchctl load -w ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.chucksteel.recordevents.plist
Your Mac will now run the RecordEvents application every minute.
