Aakash is a low cost computing device/tablet for students, the project is initiated and funded by MHRD, Govt. of India. Aakash already runs Android 4.0 with many educational apps developed at IIT Bombay. Please refer to androportal for some of the apps.

For wget users

MD5SUM for above GNU/Linux xz image 0ae03ee9daa4918e8e0f04fb7c7d62da

To write(dd) image on an 8GB sdcard, you may use a graphical tool ddMaker-1.0.1.all.deb
