My wife got an Amazon Echo Dot for Christmas, I wanted to program Alexa to play music from Amazon Prime Music to wake me up in the morning. The problem is, the Echo Dot's default alarm only plays sounds in the morning. I wanted to wake up to music. I also didn't want to wake up and yell commands to the other room for Alexa. I keep Electronics out of my bedroom, but with an external speaker, I can clearly hear my Echo Dot's music in my bedroom from my living room. I also keep my Android Phone charging in my living room, which is right next to my Echo Dot. I am not a morning person, I don't want to talk to Alexa or anyone else until after my first cup of coffee.
I found a hack to record an MP3 of my voice giving Alexa the command to start music, put the mp3 file in my phone's Alarm section. Then at my wake-up alarm time my Mp3 file of my command goes off and Alexa plays music. The hack workedm but it is a lot of work, The next day I wanted a different station, or during a winter storm, I wanted to wake up to the news weather and traffic (ALEXA, play KOMO radio) one day and music (ALEXA, Play lindsey Sterling) the next. Also my command in mp3 on my phone repeats and repeats until I get up and turn it off. (Alexa, Play Lindsey Sterling)(Alexa, Play Lindsey Sterline) (Alexa Play Lindsey Sterline).....that was aweful, so I get to the next room I have my music station playing, along with my command repeating and repeating!
- record my voice giving Alexa a command.
- Play back once the command at a set time
- Stack commands, such as: A) 6:45AM: Alexa, Start the Coffee. (wait for response) -Coffee maker will be going B) 7:00AM: Alexa, Turn on Bedroom Lights (wait for response) C) 7:00AM: Alexa, play Lindsey Sterling. (wait for response) -Lights will be on and music will be playing (5 minutes to be more mentally awake) D) 7:05 Alexa, What is on my schedule today? -Alexa reads my schedule with music in the background -Lindsey Sterling Continues.
- All this happens with some set-up, but I don't need to be present. (mentally)
- This keeps the electronic devices out of my bedroom, and makes my Echo Dot automate my busy morning.
