Building this project is quite simple:
mvn clean install
This will generate a nice ready-to-run jar under target/tpe-1.0-SNAPSHOT-jar-with-dependencies.jar, to run it just do:
java -Djgroups.bind_addr=bind_ip -jar target/tpe-1.0-SNAPSHOT-jar-with-dependencies.jar port threads
Where port is the port number that RMI will use, and threads is the number of processing threads wanted. There's one final detail, bind_ip is the ip address that server will bind to. If you want to run on localhost, you can skip that. Otherwise, you have to set it to a valid ip address that the server can listen on, and that will let it communicate with other nodes in the cluster.
