Basic ARM Template Demo
Prerequisites
- An Azure subscription
- Visual Studio Code (http://code.visualstudio.com)
- The Visual Studio Code Azure Resource Manager extension
- Tip - In Visual Studio Code, press [Ctrl+Shift+X] to access the extension manager.
Demo steps
- In Visual Studio Code, navigate to [File] then [Open File...].
- Open file

. - Review the file and make any necessary changes.
- Navigate to the Azure portal (https://portal.azure.com).
- Open the Cloud Shell by clicking the >_ icon at the top of your screen.
- Select the Bash interface.
- Drag and drop the
azuredeploy.json
file into the Cloud Shell area. Wait for it to upload. - Create a new resource group through the Cloud Shell:
az group create --name [your resource group name] --location [group location (e.g., francecentral)]
- Deploy the uploaded template to your newly created resource group through the Cloud Shell:
az group deployment create --name deploy1 --resource-group [name of resource group created in previous step] --template-file "azuredeploy.json"
