The gene name search function seems to be behaving strangely. For example, if I search for ERD in a arabidopsis assembly 5 results appear. However, if I search for ERD1 in the same assembly, now only the 3 results below appear:
['ERD13', ERD10', 'ERD1']
The inconsistency is the following: as you can see ERD14 is absent from this list whereas it is found if I search for ERD14 specifically. Why is it not included in the top 5 for ERD1 ?
I think it can be helpfull to indicate at least the number of corresponding matching in addition to the top 5 hits.
As you said you didn't mind, I edited your post for clarity.
After a discussion at the coffee break, it appears we might want to start thinking of a system for gene name synonyms resolution in the future.
