So this never got finished... but, you can check out ambience-lite-lifx if you have Lifx lights.
Change the colour of your Hue lights (including light strips) based on the content of your Mac's display.
It can make some setups look really cool. For example, if you have a Hue lightstrip behind a desk with your iMac on it, this can look amazing while in use.
A simple Mac application runs, and at an interval specified by you, will notify the bridge to change your selected light's or light group's colour to the average colour of the content on your display.

Open the Xcode project (Ambience.xcodeproj) in Xcode.

Change the app bundle identifier and team to your own.

Build the app and run it on your Mac.
If you find a bug or code issue, report it on the issues page. Keep in mind that this is for actual bugs, NOT BUILD ISSUES.
