Lekhan - A Django Blogging Application

Installation

To run Lekhan locally, you need to have Python, pip, and Django installed on your system. Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Clone the repository:

    git clone https://github.com/auscode/Blogging.git
  2. Change your working directory to the project folder:

    cd Blogging
  3. Create a virtual environment (optional but recommended):

    python -m venv venv
  4. Activate the virtual environment:

    • On Windows:

      venv\Scripts\activate
    • On macOS and Linux:

      source venv/bin/activate
  5. Install the project dependencies from requirements.txt:

    pip install -r requirements.txt
  6. Apply database migrations:

    python manage.py migrate
  7. Create a superuser (admin) account:

    python manage.py createsuperuser
  8. Start the development server:

    python manage.py runserver
  9. Access the Lekhan application in your browser at http://localhost:8000/.

Usage

  1. Log in with your superuser account to access the admin panel at http://localhost:8000/admin/. Here, you can manage users, blog posts, categories, and other site settings.

  2. To create a new blog post, navigate to the homepage and click on the "Create Post" button.

  3. Users can register and log in to start interacting with the application, including creating their own profile, commenting on blog posts, liking/unliking posts, and more.
