Smart Routing for Cloud Gaming using SDN. After experiencing excessively slow Internet speed and an inspiring Network Centric Computing class, I thought to myself, ‘just because a path is short doesn't mean necessarily the fastest.’ Seems like all great ideas come while taking a shower. It was then I thought, what if there was a way to route packets differently based on live network metrics. That is exactly what the project is. Currently, I am leading a team of 3 to create an adaptive routing protocol that chooses the lowest latency and highest bandwidth path based on active network metrics in an OpenFlow environment. We are using OpenVswitch implementation with Floodlight Controller and running a cloud-gaming platform called Gaming Anywhere. We intend to simulate multiple paths from server to client and demonstrate how our protocols are better at maintaining a stable and good quality stream by seamlessly changing routes if the current route’s throughput falls below a set threshold.
