I am no longer maintaining this puppet module as I have started working with Chef Ansible instead. I don't have an Chef Ansible version of this module at this time though, and I may never make one since this is really not something useful to anyone else.
I will still accept pull requests against this module if improvements are made to it though.
This puppet module will add custom ringtones to OS X for uses with the Messages app or any other app that draws ringtones from the directory /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ToneLibrary.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Ringtones
- 1) Puppet version 3.4 or later (Test on 3.7.3 only)
- 2) OS X 10.10.0 or later (Tested on 10.10.1 only)
- 3) Puppet Module: glarizza-property_list_key 0.2.1 or later
- 1) Check the git repo out to a module directory named "osxcustomtones"
- 2) Add the module to your Hiera data
- 3) Add your own tones if you wish.
- 1) This module requires m4r files to be deployed, and currently pulls them from ${MODDIR}/files so many tones may slow things down due to network traffic
- 2) The plist editing resource type does not edit plists, but replaces them so you must include all of the Apple default tones from whatever OS X version you are on. (This will probably only change with OS X releases (ie: 10.10/10.11/etc...) so that shouldn't be a big deal
The tones included with this module in the Github repo are for use as example data. Any additional tones I will be using are not going to be committed. Also these tones are covered under fair use since this module is meant for learning purposes. If you wish to make a claim otherwise, contact me directly. I will be more than happy to respond positively to your request.
