To develop:

Android:

1. yarn install
2. yarn start
3. Add MAPS_API_KEY=the-api-key to ./android/local.properties
4. (in another terminal) yarn android

   if this fails, make sure you're using JDK 8 or 11

Tip in vscode: Press the button "React Native Packager" in the bottom bar after installing the recommended workspace extensions
