Important Notes

On the whole this readme isn't well structured yet and needs reworking, many of the scripts are in half completed states and need more thorough testing, these things I will get to in time.

Animations do not properly convert and must be converted through 3DSMax for the time being.

Current Issues UE2 Porting Scripts

For porting from UE2 to UE2, I have abandoned these scripts and am unlikely to work on them again, but maybe they will help someone.

Both UE2 Scripts Both UE2 scripts need the relevant UCC parameters and lines setup in order to import everything en-masse into UT2004 and into the correct categories.

Current Issues UE3 Porting Scripts

For porting from UDK to UE4.

Unreal Tournament 3 Script in the works.

Current Issues UE4 Porting Scripts

For porting from UE2 to UE4.

SGA & SWRC Scripts Both scripts still need some work to properly sort through the associated .mat and .props.txt files.

SWRC Script Leon's Republic Commando specific version of UCC cannot accept directories with spaces in them, so the GameData folder must be copied to C:/SWRC for now.

Red Orchestra & Postal 2 Scripts largely untested and don't produce a full output yet.

SWAT 4 & SWAT 4 The Stetchkov Syndicate SWAT 4 Tested, Animations packages don't export and the expansion is untested currently but the same script should work for that.

UE2-UE4

A batch script or set of batch scripts I am working on that prepares all of the files for a few ports I am working on.

The overall goal of this project is to create an automated method of converting UE2 games over to UE4 in their entirety.

Tested with two games so far, though I hope to test it with more when I can find the time.

Currently the importing of all the files needs to be done manually, but I am planning on writing an unreal plugin to speed up the process or utilise one that already exists.

Plugin that already exists : https://github.com/RareKiwi/T3D_UE4Importer

The above plugin uses a different version of the PSKX/PSA importer script for Blender and I haven't actually tested it out yet, it seems like a lot of manual work needs to be done for their process where as I am trying to automate everything from beginning to end.

This project will also have a middle ground where an Unreal Engine template houses the necessary mechanics required to build any potential UE2 to UE4 conversions, more specifically I intend it to consist of a multiplayer and co-operative style gameplay for a game I wish to develop.

UE4 : https://github.com/Thor110/ABC-UE4

UE5 : https://github.com/Thor110/ABC-UE5

I also have a version on 5.3 but there is a lot more work to be done before it will be ready to serve as a template for this project.

UModel Issues

Please ensure that umodel is setup correctly and that it has it's export path set to "\UmodelExport" in the umodel directory and that use object groups instead of types is ticked in the settings.

That is "SaveGroups = true" in the umodel.cfg file.

Stargate SG-1 : The Alliance

UE2 : Stargate SG-1 : The Alliance

FILENAME : sga-ue2-release.bat

REQUIRED : GAME(SGA) + UMODEL + UT2004 + FFMPEG

UE4 : Stargate SG-1 : The Alliance

FILENAME : sga-ue4-release.bat

REQUIRED : GAME(SGA) + UMODEL + UT2004 + FFMPEG + BLENDER(2.93 - 3.6)

Star Wars Republic Commando

UE2 : Star Wars Republic Commando

FILENAME : swrc-ue2-release.bat

REQUIRED : GAME(SWRC) + FIX(LEONS) + UMODEL + UT2004

UE4 : Star Wars Republic Commando

FILENAME : swrc-ue4-release.bat

REQUIRED : GAME(SWRC) + FIX(LEONS) + UMODEL + BLENDER(2.93 - 3.6)

Required Programs

Blender from https://www.blender.org/ v2.93 to be specific. ( This has also been tested with 3.6 )

Blender3D Import psk psa addon from the releases section at https://github.com/Befzz/blender3d_import_psk_psa

UT2004 ( required to export the sound packages for SGA and the UE2 version of the SWRC script, not required for SWRC UE4. )

UModel from https://www.gildor.org/en/projects/umodel

Make sure nothing exists inside the "UmodelExport" folder.

Select "Use object groups instead of types" in the Umodel options, or use the .cfg file included.

A copy of "Stargate_SG-1_-_The_Alliance-2005-12-15" which can be obtained from https://archive.org/details/StargateSG1TheAlliance20051215

FFMPEG from https://ffmpeg.org/

Usage

Note : Everything should be installed to the C:\ drive.

Install UT2004 ( Required for UE2 script variants and Stargate SG-1 : The Alliance UE4! - Not required for SWRC UE4 )

Install Blender and the PSKX/PSK/PSA Import Plugin.

or

Install Star Wars Republic Commando and Leon's latest fix available from : https://github.com/SWRC-Modding/CT/releases

once installed and the fix is also installed, copy the GameData folder to the C:\ drive and rename it to SWRC, this is so that the script can modify files and then delete the duplicate in the process. as well as so that the modified UCC that comes with Leon's fixes doesn't short out on directories with spaces in them.

Install FFMPEG ( Required for Stargate SG-1 : The Alliance! )

Install UModel ( Do not change the export directory or set back to default of "C:\umodel_win32\UmodelExport" )

Extract the game files to C:\SGA or copy Star Wars Republic Commando's GameData folder to C:\SWRC

NOTE : This folder will be deleted, so make sure to keep the original .7zip file for SGA and to copy the GameData folder for SWRC.

( so "C:\SGA\Textures" will now exist ) or ( "C:\SWRC\Textures" )

The scripts can now be run from anywhere and will request that you enter the directories for the required files, the script will then check the required programs exist before going on to use them.

Make sure to have the batch-convert-fbx.txt file sat alongside the batch file.

Do not right click / run as administrator! Just double click or hit enter when ready.

But it should be noted once more that everything should be located on the C:\ drive to prevent issues for the batch script moving files between drives.

When prompted by the script you should enter something along the lines of the following for each script.

Example directories you might enter when prompted by the SGA-UE2 script. - "sga-ue2-release.bat"

C:\GOG Games\Unreal Tournament 2004

C:\umodel_win32

C:\ffmpeg

C:\SGA

Example directories you might enter when prompted by the SGA-UE4 script. - "sga-ue4-release.bat"

C:\GOG Games\Unreal Tournament 2004

C:\umodel_win32

C:\ffmpeg

C:\SGA

C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender 2.93

C:\SGAUE4

Example directories you might enter when prompted by the SWRC-UE2 script. - "swrc-ue2-release.bat"

C:\SWRC

C:\GOG Games\Unreal Tournament 2004

C:\umodel_win32

Example directories you might enter when prompted by the SWRC-UE4 script. - "swrc-ue4-release.bat"

C:\SWRC

C:\umodel_win32

C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender 2.93

C:\SWRCUE4

Ready

This will setup all of the files appropriately, ready to be imported into UE4 or UT2004.

It will also delete the C:\SGA directory upon completion, so you can just keep or delete the original .7z file ( same goes for Republic Commando, which is why I chose to copy the GameData folder for now )

This is because certain files had to be deleted during the execution of the script in order to prevent umodel giving an error on packages that are practically empty.

It also preserves the logic and a list of the files that need to be skipped.
