What it Does

Carbon_Monoxide_Compared_to_Non-Fire_Related_Incidents.ipynb:

This code begins by downloading an image from NASA's gibs tool measuring carbon monoxide in North America and getting data from the instrument. The program then counts how many pixels are red (indicating carbon monoxide) for a given date, and gives a ratio of pixels indicating carbon monoxide to the total number of pixels in th region. A yearly average carbon monoxide ratio is calculated and plotted with respect to years. The seccond graph is a double-axis plot that compares the yearly average carbon monoxide ratio over time with the number carbon monoxide incidents.

aerosol images.ipynb

This code is similar to the carbon monoxide code in that it uses NASA's gibs tools to measure Aerosol levels. It calculates the aerosol ratios the same way. It also shows images from the NASA instrument.

eMission Control

This includes dates and yearly rates (percent of entire population) for asthma (by region in the US) and COPD (entire US)

Regional Codes

This includes data from each of the four divisions of the US.

Data Plot.ipynb

This code is connected to the aerosol images data. It uses the average yearly aerosol ratios and plots them against time. It plots this with the yearly asthma rates against time for comparison. It also plots aerosol rations against COPD rates.

Correlation

This code calculates all of the corrlation factors for asthma and for COPD

###Original Program This is the basic code that we used to gather images from Nasa satellites

PlanetHome

Your challenge is to overlay Earth science data with human dimensions data from resources like NASA's Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center (SEDAC) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Indicators Database, to see if any interesting patterns and stories emerge! --NASA Space Apps Challenge 2017

This project extends on this concept to analyze the earth satellite and sociological data to come up with new story to tell for social good.
