This course provides an introduction to database management systems. Topics include the relational data model; relational algebra; querying and updating databases: the query language SQL; application programming with SQL; integrity constraints, normal forms, and database design; elements of database system technology: query processing, transaction management; modeling and programming for semi-structured data.

In this course the assignments and exercises had to be done in relational algebra, SQL, DDL, DML, java, XML, DTD, and XQuery. This course provided a very thorough introduction to databases including the E/R model (entity/relationship) and database design along with a short introduction on NoSQL and Hadoop.
