Node Package Manager (npm)
This tool is comprised of a registry database accessed via CLI. Npm is typically used in Node.js applications to download open-source libraries and simply running npm install
will install all package.json dependencies.
Webpack is a tool used in JavaScript applications which uses a dependency graph to map your project files. But more specifically it uses an entry point where relevant module webpacks are automatically determined. Webpack runs on JavaScript and JSON but can utilize loaders for interoperability with other languages. Installation is as easy as typing
npm install --global webpack
into the CLI. Along these same lines we ended up altering the config file, adding a key:value of watch:true, then
npm install webpack-cli
and
npx webpack
which conveniently allowed us to make code changes on the fly, speeding up the production cycle.
The basic approach was keeping the project simple, efficient and clean. We ended up taking a non-standard approach and tackled user authentication from the onset. This was quickly followed up with core CRUD functionality which consumed the majority of project resources as each successive implementation was met with its own distinct bugs. The last aspect of the project entailed formatting, styling and documentation of the project lifecycle.
