installs java8 on ubuntu and removes other java instances
- download the installjava8 shell script
- Get the Java 8 tarball from here
- move the tarball to the folder containing the shell script
- run the shell script
sudo sh installjava8.sh - when prompted, copy the code in the terminal to the end of the profile (window will pop up)
- save the profile and close gedit
- press enter to continue
- java8 is now installed. Reboot pc to reflect changes.
