Fisheries Economics of the United States: NOAA Fisheries

Ocean Process Analysis Laboratory: UNH

NOAA and the U.S. Navy are working to better understand underwater sound within the National Marine Sanctuary System. For the next few years, these agencies will work with numerous scientific partners to study sound within seven national marine sanctuaries and one marine national monument, which includes waters off Hawai’i and the east and west coasts. Standardized measurements will assess sounds produced by marine animals, physical processes (e.g., wind and waves), and human activities. Collectively, this information will help NOAA and the Navy measure sound levels and baseline acoustic conditions in sanctuaries.
NOAA CoastWatch exists to help people access and use global and regional satellite data for ocean and coastal applications. Science on a Sphere (SOS) Ocean Dataset Videos

Wind Resource Maps and Data: NREL
The website provides wind resource map images and geospatial data for North America, the contiguous United States, Canada, Mexico, and Central America. The data is a wind resource data set, wind forecast data set, and wind power production and forecast data set derived from the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) numerical weather prediction model. The data span from 2007 top 2013 is designed for use in a variety of next-generation wind integration analyses and wind power planning.

Harmful Algal BloomS Observing System : NOAA/NCEI
The Harmful Algal BloomS Observing System (HABSOS) is a data collection and distribution system designed to provide environmental managers, scientists, and the public with a tool for tracking and observing current and historical harmful algal bloom (HAB) events in the Gulf of Mexico. The HABSOS interactive map combines Karenia brevis cell counts and associated environmental information into a single product, using the latest sample data available to create an accurate picture of HAB location and quantity.
Gulf of Mexico Harmful Algal Bloom Forecast : NOAA/NOS/NCCOS
In the Gulf of Mexico, some harmful algal blooms are caused by the microscopic algae species Karenia brevis, commonly called red tide. Karenia brevis blooms can cause respiratory illness and eye irritation in humans. It can also kill marine life, and lead to shellfish closures. Blooms are often patchy, so impacts vary by beach and throughout the day. NCCOS monitors conditions daily and issues regular forecasts for red tide blooms in the Gulf of Mexico and East Coast of Florida. You can find the forecasts and up-to-date conditions on the site.
Coastal Ocean Monitoring and Prediction : University of South Florida
The website provides observation (radar, moorings, and station data), coastal ocean model forecast (West Florida and Tampa Bay) on red tide, and large scale circulation with trajectory tracking based on satellite altimetry and global HYCOM. A suite of data analysis tools is also provided on the website. The associated near real-time Integrated Red Tide Information System (IRIS) also provide Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) information. The Coastal Ocean Monitoring and Prediction System (COMPS) provides station and radar measurement.

This is a forecast system for Washington and Oregon coastal waters, including chlorophyll, SST, oxygen, pH, upwelling, etc. The J-SCOPE forecasts are developed to support the California Current Integrated Ecosystem Assessment. Integrated Ecosystem Assessments (IEAs) are a framework for informing ecosystem-based management, which aims to take into account interactions among ecosystem components and managed sectors, as well as cumulative impacts of a wide spectrum of ocean-use sector.
