Getting Started

Follow these instructions to set up and run the Typeracer game on your local machine.

Prerequisites

Make sure you have the following software installed on your computer:

• PHP: Download and install PHP from https://www.php.net/.
• Composer: Download and install Composer from https://getcomposer.org/.
• Laravel: Install Laravel globally using Composer:

   composer global require laravel/installer

Installation

1. Clone the Typeracer repository to your local machine using Git:

git clone https://github.com/yourusername/typeracer.git

2. Navigate to the project directory:

cd typeracer

3. Install the project dependencies:

composer install

4. Create a copy of the .env.example file and name it .env. Update the database configuration and other environment variables in this file.

5. Generate an application key:

php artisan key:generate

6. Migrate the database:

php artisan migrate

7. Start the Laravel development server:

php artisan serve

8. Open your web browser and go to http://localhost:8000 to view the Typeracer game.

Configuration

• Customize the game settings, such as text passages, typing speed requirements, and scoring, by modifying the configuration files in the config directory.

Usage

1. Register or log in as a user on the Typeracer website.

2. Choose your typing buddy!

3. Start typing the displayed passage as fast and accurately as you can.

4. Compete for the top spot on the leaderboard!
