wordswordswords
wordwordswords seeks to be THE way of getting an accurate word count for any file.
Just run 'Words: File Word Count' in the command palette to have your word count appear in the bottom right corner.
Ctrl + Shift + p => 'Words: File Word Count'

Known Issues
This is mostly untested for right now. Please bare with me as the extension progresses. It is in working condition at the moment however.
