This project aims to develop a cutting-edge food safety system utilizing blockchain technology, ensuring transparency and security across the entire food supply chain.

Project Aim

The primary objective of this project is to architect and implement a robust food safety system empowered by blockchain technology. Our goal is to revolutionize the food industry's approach to safety and transparency by leveraging the immutable and decentralized nature of blockchain.

Objectives:

  1. Enhancing Transparency: Utilize blockchain's transparent ledger to trace and record the lifecycle of food products, ensuring transparency from sourcing to distribution.

  2. Ensuring Authenticity and Integrity: Implement mechanisms to authenticate food products, verify origins, and maintain data integrity regarding quality checks and compliance.

  3. Facilitating Traceability: Enable end-to-end traceability, providing stakeholders with access to immutable records of each product's journey through the supply chain.

  4. Improving Recall Processes: Use blockchain's traceability features to expedite and precisely target food recalls, minimizing risks and health hazards.

  5. Empowering Consumer Confidence: Provide consumers with comprehensive information about the food they purchase, fostering trust and confidence.

Current Stage:

The project has completed the implementation of the blockchain infrastructure for the food safety system. However, the overall development is still ongoing and not yet completed. Future stages will involve further development, integration with existing systems, frontend design, and user interface enhancements

Approach:

  • Blockchain Implementation: Design and deploy a decentralized blockchain network to securely manage food supply chain data, leveraging smart contracts and consensus mechanisms.

  • Integration: Develop interfaces to seamlessly integrate the system with existing supply chain management tools and databases.

  • User-Friendly Interfaces: Create intuitive interfaces for stakeholders to access real-time information and track product details.

This project endeavors to merge blockchain's capabilities with user-centric design, contributing to enhanced consumer well-being and regulatory compliance in the food industry.

Getting Started

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.x
  • Flask (Install using pip install Flask)

Running the Application

  1. Clone the repository:

    git clone https://github.com/HriThik-MaNoj/blockchain-food-safety.git
    cd blockchain-food-safety
  2. Run the Flask application:

    python blockchain_app.py

    The application will start running at http://localhost:5000.
